Testing Services for Families

Providing Diagnostic School Psychoeducational Evaluations

At PsychEd School Services, we specialize in diagnostic school psychoeducational evaluations to identify neurodevelopmental disorders, including Specific Learning Disorders (e.g., Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, and Dyscalculia), Intellectual Disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorders, and ADHD. Our evaluations use neuropsychological principles to provide detailed insights into your child’s unique strengths and areas of need, helping to uncover the root causes of learning difficulties. We also evaluate concerns related to executive functioning difficulties, as well as social and behavioral/emotional functioning, offering a clearer understanding of how these factors may impact your child’s academic performance and daily life.

What makes PsychEd School Services different?

Bridging the gap between families and schools, PsycheEd School Services offers knowledge of neuropsychological principles and assessments, school-based and clinical experience, as well as extensive knowledge of the IEP and special education process. We understand the importance of both parent and teacher input and strive to incorporate valuable feedback into our assessments. Upon request, we’re happy to meet with teachers and school IEP teams, ensuring everyone involved has the information needed to support your child’s success. Our goal is to provide families with actionable recommendations that empower children to thrive at school and beyond.

Testing Q&A

  • Testing is usually recommended when a child faces challenges in areas such as learning, attention, social skills, and/or behavioral/emotional regulation. A psychological evaluation can serve several important purposes, including:

    • Identifying learning delays or difficulties, cognitive and academic strengths and weaknesses, and/or social, emotional, behavioral challenges that may be impacting your child’s ability to thrive.

    • Determining eligibility for special education services and related supports.

    • Identifying the most effective strategies and interventions to support your child’s learning and development.

    • Establishing a baseline to track and measure your child’s progress over time.

    • Comprehensive Diagnostic School Psychoeducational Evaluations (including DSM-5 diagnoses when appropriate), including:

      • Intellectual Disability

      • Autism Spectrum Disorder

      • ADHD

      • Specific Learning Disorder (e.g., Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, Dsygraphia)

    • Gifted/IQ Evaluations

    • Evaluations for Standardized Testing Accommodations

  • Intake:
Once all initial paperwork is complete, PsychEd will schedule a detailed clinical interview to better understand your concerns. This conversation helps pinpoint the areas of concern and guides the selection of the most appropriate assessments for your child.

    Testing:
After the intake, PsychEd will conduct in-person testing sessions with your child. Comprehensive psychoeducational evaluations typically span 4-6 hours of testing, divided across two to three visits. The evaluation typically includes:

    • Cognitive Assessment

    • Educational Assessment

    • Processing Assessment (which may include areas such as phonological skills, language, memory, attention, and/or executive functioning)

    • Social and Behavioral/Emotional Assessment

    Feedback:
Once testing is complete, PsychEd will schedule a feedback session, which can take place in person or via Zoom for your convenience. During this meeting, we will review the findings, explain their implications, and answer any questions you have. You’ll also receive tailored recommendations, referrals, and strategies to support your child’s success. Following this session, you will be provided with a comprehensive written report summarizing the results.

  • Testing fees vary greatly depending upon the type of the evaluation services requested. Please contact us directly using our Contact Form to discuss the fees for the services you need.

  • No. Our services are provided on a fee-for-service basis, allowing us the opportunity to use clinical judgment and client preferences to make decisions regarding what assessment and/or treatment will be most helpful to your child rather than have this dictated by the insurance company. Families pay PsychEd School Services directly for all services.

  • The parent(s)/legal guardian(s) receives the report. Results are only shared with someone other than parent(s)/legal guardian(s) with express written permission. In most cases, sharing the report with school personnel is helpful, but this is only done with written permission.

  • Yes. At a parent’s request, PsychEd School Services can participate in school meetings (including IEP team meetings) in order to review results and recommendations.

Navigating your child’s learning journey can feel overwhelming. Whether you have questions about testing services, the IEP process, or how to better understand your child’s unique needs, we’re here to help.

We’d love to connect and help you take the next step toward unlocking your child’s potential!
